Copycats

nice ass.jpg

The music industry is not a very nice one if you judge by all the crazy stuff that goes on in various Idol competitions and conforming to be able to get radio airplay. Just think of the Motown factory that used their artists like robots and churned out new music on a weekly basis.
Not to mention the form of recycling that has always been popular. Here in the UK covers are very popular. Can you believe that something so hideous as 'Unchained Melody' has been number 1 here twice in the last 4 years? Yuck!!
Also the process of stealing music is quite popular as well. Remember 'Torn' with singing headache Natalie Imbrufucklia, that they tried to pass on as her own song. NOT!
Here below are two examples of UK artist having hit songs that are more theft than actual covers.
The background music is exactly the same and the vocal delivery is not that big of a difference.
Let me know what you think! (It's Christine Milton that did the track first btw.)

I know. It is quite common though in the music industry. Remember when Roberta Flack did Killing me softly her version was a cover that became THE version to listen to. Sorry if the ass was over the top. :P
