Elizabeth Taylor - 1932-2011

Hollywood icon and giant of the Hollywood Golden Age, Elizabeth Taylor died of heart failure on March 23rd. We're writing this from London, the city she was born in, and for a few years we were based in Los Angeles and there Dame Elizabeth and ourselves shared The Abbey in West Hollywood as the place to be. (We lived just by it.) She had a standing reservation, with an oil painting of her on the wall next to her table, and went there once a week. Hot! Regardless of her iconic status as a celebrity we're thinking of the human rights activist Elizabeth. A person who took the fame she didn't like in the first place and used it as a vessel to educate people, raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and generate funds for research. Below is the clip when Elizabeth accepted the Vanguard Award at the 11th annual GLAAD Media Awards in 2000. That is one kickass lady and some speech! Rest in peace and hot damn; It's all about love you know!
