Premiere: Sade - The Big Unknown

It always feels like a big event whenever there’s new Sade music! This as there’s only been six albums in total since their debut with Diamond Life in 1984 - close to 35 years ago! The Big Unknown is lifted from the soundtrack to Steve McQueen’s movie Widows (based on the TV series). This is also the second song and soundtrack from Sade this year after Flower of The Universe from back in March. Widows tells the story of four women forced into a life of crime - a robbery to pay for their late husbands debts. The Sade song fits this motif perfectly. The Big Unknown is a gorgeous ballad painted with a palette filled with muted colours. The piano looming under Sade Adu’s iconic voice that in this track sounds weary and lonely. Says McQueen:

“It was an honor to work with such a legend. Sade is an incomparable talent and incredible artist who so rarely releases new material, but luckily the original series of Widows had deeply resonated with her.”
